The Marlborough Historical Society presents: The United States vs. Susan B. Anthony

On March 28, 2023 at 7:00 in honor of Women’s History month, the Marlborough Historical Society will present “the United States vs Susan B. Anthony: Voting Rights for Women”

Susan B. Anthony was indicted by a grand jury for ‘knowingly, wrongfully, and unlawfully voting, before women were allowed to vote.  Her trial, in which Anthony was convicted of breaking the law by casting a vote in a Presidential election, became one of the most famous trails of the nineteenth century, focusing the nation’s attention on ‘The Cause’.

This presentation will be given by the Honorable Dennis J. Curran, Justice of the Massachusetts Superior Court. Justice Curran served as a Massachusetts trial judge for 15 years.  His lifelong passion has been history. He was featured last year on a history panel broadcast on C-Span 2, and has lectured extensively before historical societies, civic and educational organizations, and fellow judges. He is an elected Fellow of the Massachusetts Historical Society and a member of the Board of Advisors of the nationally respected Lincoln Forum.

This event will take place at the Peter Rice Homestead, 377  Elm Street. It is free to the public and refreshments will be served.
